Galaxy S23 gets a new software update for improved security

Samsung has released a new software update for the Galaxy S23 series that makes the devices more secure. It is the second software update the company has released for its high-end phones launched in early 2023. The first update brought One UI 8.5 to the devices.

A new software update with firmware version S91xBXXSAFZE1 is now available for the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra in India. It brings the May 2026 security patch to the three phones, making them more secure. This month's security update has arrived later than usual, as Samsung has been busy rolling out the stable One UI 8.5 update to several eligible phones and tablets.

The May 2026 security patch fixes 36 security vulnerabilities discovered in Samsung's Android-based Galaxy devices. Based on the firmware version, the update could include improvements beyond the security fixes. It is likely that Samsung has also fixed bugs and performance issues that may have been introduced with the One UI 8.5 update.

If you are a Galaxy S23 series user in India, you can now check for the May 2026 security update on your device. To do so, navigate to Settings > Software update and tap Check for updates. Once the update file is downloaded from Samsung's servers, tap Install now to begin the installation process.

Your phone will take a few minutes to install the update and restart. Make sure your device has at least 30% battery charge remaining; otherwise, the update may not install.
